Taking Teens Further Than They Could Imagine
(2003–2011)
By the early 2000s, DYM was sending teams of students across the country and around the world. What started smalleventually grew into 62 mission trips over the years. Chad Chambers spiritually led and gave visually creative gospel messages through interpreters resulting in great numbers of so many new Jesus followers only heaven can count. Bill Wilting led logistically, sharing truth and love in small unreached villages, in churches and city squares, while spiritually pouring into each team.
Students performed drama’s (most original), played music, boldly shared their own testimonies, got messy serving needs, shared the gospel to thousands in schools, villages and in public squares.
Life-Changing Experiences
Trips to Mexico, Brazil, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Haiti, and even Native American communities in the U.S. stretched students out of their comfort zones. For many, it was their first time on a plane. For others, it was their first time seeing poverty up close.
But in every case, they discovered something powerful: mission isn’t just “out there.” It’s a lifestyle.
Stories of Impact
In Brazil, students shared the gospel to thousands and thousands in public school assemblies. The stories of changed lives continued to grow and spread throughout Brazil.
In Guatemala, people living in primitive jungle areas were reached.
In Nicaragua, in addition to public schools, teams partnered with local churches in impoverished villages bringing hope.
In Haiti, orphans from the earthquake ravaged country were impacted.
Back home in the US, students served over and over and then carried the same passion into their own schools and communities.
Why It Mattered
These trips didn’t just impact the places they went—they transformed the students themselves. Teens came back with deeper faith, stronger purpose, and a clearer sense of calling.
Mission changes us. When we step into God’s story, we’re never the same.
